What do the compression and rebound clickers do?
By Travis Flateau, TBT Racing Β· tuning since 1992
Compression controls how easily the suspension goes in when you hit a bump. Rebound controls how fast it comes back out.
The basics
- More compression (clicks in): firmer, holds up on big hits, can feel harsh on small stuff.
- Less compression (clicks out): softer and plusher, but it can bottom or dive.
- More rebound (clicks in): slower return, calmer, but it can "pack" in whoops.
- Less rebound (clicks out): faster return, but it can kick or feel bouncy.
The TBT tip
Change one clicker, 2 clicks at a time, and write it down. Clickers fine-tune a good setup; they can't fix the wrong springs or valving.
