Do I need a revalve, or just new springs?

By Travis Flateau, TBT Racing · tuning since 1992

Springs hold you up; valving controls how fast the suspension moves. Start with the right springs for your weight, then revalve if the bike is still harsh, deflects or bottoms for how and where you ride.

Springs first when

  • You can't get your sag right.
  • The bike rides too low or too high.
  • You're much lighter or heavier than the rider the bike was built for.

Revalve when

  • The fork feels harsh on small bumps or rocks.
  • It deflects off roots and edges.
  • It bottoms on big hits even with the right springs.
  • Your terrain or speed is very different from stock: desert, Baja, tight woods, supercross-style jumps.

The TBT way

We match springs to your weight in street clothes, then valve for your skill, terrain and goals, using 30+ years of real TBT setups on real bikes.
